Manage Image

The image provides all the information needed to start a virtual machine instance. If you want to create instances with the same configuration with an existing instance, you can create an image from this existing instance.

View Images

On the left menu bar, go to Computing >Image to view Images list.

Create an Image

If your instance is running any active databases, it’s recommended to power off the instance down prior to creating the image. Creating an image that includes a running database can cause corruption or data loss in the imaged copy of the database.

  1. On the left menu bar, go to Computing >Image, and click Create Image.

  2. Choose an instance.

  3. Label the Image and fill in the description.

  4. Check it and Create Volume.

It will take some time to fully complete. You can check the status of this process by navigating to the main Images page, finding the new image in the Images table, and looking at the Status column. If the Image has been created and processed, the status should be set to Available. The Size of the Image is based on the disk's usage, not the size of the disk itself.

Delete an Image

  1. On the left menu bar, go to Computing >Image, and click on the Delete button next to the corresponding Image you would like to delete. You are prompted to confirm deletion of the Image. Click Delete to proceed.
